Marko Janse van Rensburg was born on the 1st October 1991 in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. His regular position is hooker.
Janse van Rensburg made his first-class debut for Boland Cavaliers on 9th March 2013 in a Vodacom Cup match against Western Province on Ceres. He played four games for Boland.
He played for the Maties in the Varsity Cup competition in 2015-'16. In 2016, he played in the final against the Pukke - which the Pukke then won 7-6. Louis van der Westhuizen, current Cheetah hooker, was then the hooker in the Puk team.
In the meantime, Marko somewhat disappeared from the first-class rugby scene before continuing his career with the Pumas in Mbombela again in 2017. He was a member of the Puma team that won the SuperSport Challenge competition in 2018. The Pumas competed in the Northern Division and won all eight matches. They beat the Blue Bulls XV in the quarter-finals and the Sharks XV in the semi-finals. In the final on 15th July 2018, The Pumas beat Griquas 32-30 at Oudtshoorn - a showdown in which Janse van Rensburg scored two tries. He scored seven tries for the Pumas in the competition.
Marko scored 15 tries for the Pumas in 51 games before he went to the USA in 2020 to join the Rugby ATL in Atlanta of Major League Rugby (MLR) – is a professional rugby union competition and the top-level championship for clubs in North America. In the 2022 season, it was contested by thirteen teams: twelve from the United States and one from Canada. Officially sanctioned by USA Rugby —a member union of Rugby Americas North (RAN) — and consequently part of World Rugby, the league was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
Janse van Rensburg joined the Cheetahs in August 2022 and he is part of the squad that won the Currie Cup trophy in 2023.
