Makhaza is a dynamic backline player and student at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Originally from Harrismith, he is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most exciting young rugby talents. He earned a place in the 54-man Springbok alignment camp after an outstanding Varsity Cup season, during which he was named Player of the Year and Backline Player of the Year for a second consecutive year — a rare achievement that highlights his consistency, skill, and match-winning brilliance.
His rugby role model is Cheslin Kolbe, and what he loves most about the game is the connection with teammates and the opportunity to travel. Off the field, his favourite food is pasta, his favourite song is “Let It All Work Out” by Lil Wayne, and his favourite movie is Squid Game.
