Jeandré Rudolph joined the Toyota Cheetahs on 1 November 2020. The 28-year-old loose forward can play anywhere in the back row, and his play is tailor-made for the Cheetah brand of rugby. He is solid in the defence, and his over-the-ball play is next level.

Rudolph is a product of Hoër Landbouskool Oakdale, and he played his junior rugby for the SWD Eagles before heading to Potchefstroom to study.

There are loose forwards blessed with the flair and razzmatazz reserved for their much more flamboyant brothers in the backline. They are the Kwagga Smiths and Bobby Skinstads who can step and swerve with the best of them. They have a deceptive turn of space and silky hands and know how to execute those deft touches that open up defences.

Rudolph will forever be remembered as the first North-West University (NWU Pukke) captain to hoist the Varsity Cup trophy.

On that glorious night of 11 April 2016, Rudolph and his men survived onslaught after onslaught. They dished out attack after attack to win 7-6 after nearly 10 minutes of overtime against the Maties at the Craven Stadium, Stellenbosch.

Rudolph would continue to lead the side for three seasons.

He subsequently joined the Pumas (2018-'20: 29/10t), which he also captained on occasion, and was on loan to the Bulls (2020: 4/1t) for the 2020 Super Rugby tournament, which came to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In November 2020, he signed at the Cheetahs and made the most of his chances in Bloemfontein. Jeandré was superlative in the Currie Cup. He has been everything from a monster in the contact, menacing on defence and a marauder at the breakdown. 

Jeandré got his big chance by November 2020 in the Super Rugby Unlocked competition. He played in his first 26 games for the Cheetahs on the 6 November 2020 against the Sharks at Johnsons Kingspark, Durban. After that, he was a regular member of the Cheetah loose trio. He missed just one of the Cheetahs' 13 games in the 2022 Currie Cup competition and scored four tries. That the Cheetahs lost the Currie Cup semi-final on 18 June 2022 against the Pumas in Bloemfontein with 35-38 was in no way his fault. Jeandré played his heart out, scoring two of the Cheetahs' four tries. He was also the Player of the Match.

The professional players' organisation, MyPlayers, nominated Rudolph as one of their "Defenders of the Year" and "Forward of the Year". It is a testament to a man who has made the most of his talents.

He is part of the 2023 Currie Cup winner's squad.
