TOYOTA CHALLENGE TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: Toyota Cheetahs vs Western Force

Coach Hawies Fourie announced his team this afternoon for the first of four Toyota Challenge matches against the Western Force on Friday, 25 August in Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein. The action kicks off at 17:00 and will be live on SuperSport.

The 2023 Toyota Challenge will again boast a total prize money of R1 million, with R250 000 awarded for each match. This significant prize money not only adds to the intensity of the competition but also recognises the outstanding efforts of the teams.

Fans supporting their favourite team at the Toyota Stadium will have much to look forward to. In addition to the prizes for the winning teams, a cash prize of R10 000 will be up for grabs for one lucky fan who posts a picture of themselves at the game in Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein in the comment of the competition posts with the #ToyotaChallenge2023.

"We hope we get a lot of supporters. I liked the Currie Cup final but I think it's fantastic for us to be able to have at least two matches now on home turf," said the Toyota Cheetahs CEO, Ross van Reenen

"I hope people will come out, it's beautiful. The Western Force have already arrived and I've heard that the guys are keen to play with us."

 "We look forward to getting back on the field again and playing. It's great to play in the Toyota Challenge, it allows all of us to grow as a team," said Toyota Cheetahs head coach, Hawies Fourie

"I think the pace of the game will be high, and the skills of both teams will be of good quality. Spectators can look forward to a nice open running game, hopefully, both teams will be able to score some tries and play attractive rugby."

The two teams entered SuperRugby in 2006 when the tournament was extended from Super12 to Super14, and both teams were axed at the end of the 2017 tournament.
