Rory Duncan - Head Coach of the Toyota FS Cheetahs

Rory Duncan, the newly appointed Head Coach of the Toyota Free State Cheetahs for the 2014 Currie Cup Season, has come a long way since his days as Lock for the EP Kings.  Today we meet the man behind the stalwart rugby player.

Rory describes himself as a confident, sociable and easy going person, and that is how most of his new colleagues at Free State Rugby have come to know him.

Born in Durban and raised in the Eastern Cape, Rory describes his childhood as filled with good laughs, mischief and rugby with his only brother, John Duncan, with whom he enjoys a very close relationship until this day. His father, Mr. Paul Duncan, was a key influencer in Rory’s love for rugby as he also played First Division rugby until the age of 41 and proceeded to coach at that very level.

When Rory is asked about what it feels like being back in The City of Roses, the family man answered “Very nice! My wife and kids love Bloemfontein and are fitting in quite easily”. Away from the rugby field, the father of two spends whatever time he gets with his family. He enjoys nothing more than doing outdoor activities with his children, and enjoys anything cooked on a braai.

Looking into his future prospects, he states that he is extremely excited with his new position as the Head Coach for the 2014 Currie Cup competition. He is looking forward to making a difference in Cheetah rugby and getting supporters excited again.

Congratulations Rory and we look forward to seeing you prosper with the Cheetahs in the upcoming Currie Cup tournament.
