Dries Swanepoel, centre of the Toyota Cheetahs has been suspended for three matches after getting a red card in the match against Connacht in Galway on Saturday.
Due to his clean record, the initial suspension of six weeks was reduced to three.
He will miss this Saturday’s match against Scarlets, next week against Cardiff Blues and the match against Ospreys on 30 November.
Craig Barry will be replacing him on tour.
Dries Swanepoel - Three weeks Dries Swanepoel of Toyota Cheetahs has been banned for a period of three weeks as a result of his red card in the Guinness PRO14 Round 4 fixture with Connacht Rugby on October 26, 2019. Swanepoel was shown a red card by referee Ben Whitehouse under Law 9.11 – Players must not do anything that is reckless or dangerous to others. The Disciplinary Hearing was handled by Roddy Dunlop QC (Scotland) and it was accepted that the Player’s actions warranted a red card for foul play. The incident was deemed to be a Mid-range offence which carries a six-week suspension. The Player’s immediate acceptance of culpability, his previous clean disciplinary record and remorse shown warranted application of 50 per cent mitigation which brings his ban to three weeks. The Player is free to resume playing from midnight on Sunday, December 1, 2019. *Please note the Toyota Cheetahs are scheduled for three matches between November 2 and November 30, 2019. |
