The centre, Evardi Boshoff, has signed a short-term contract with the Toyota Cheetahs. The star midfielder for the 2021 Varsity Cup runners-up, the University of Cape Town Ikeys, will be contracted at the Toyota Cheetahs until the end of September.
Boshoff is the latest of several Varsity Cup players to join the union following the recent signing of the Maties captain, David Brits, and the UWC scrumhalf, Branden de Kock.
Boshoff says that joining the Toyota Cheetahs is an opportunity for him to develop as a player.
“For me coming to the Cheetahs is a good opportunity to showcase my skills, improve and just become a better rugby player.
“They play a brand of rugby that will suit me and develop me further as a player.
“I look forward to getting experience by playing with guys like Clayton Blommetjies, Howard Mnisi and hopefully Frans Steyn when he comes back.”
The product of Hoërskool Lichtenburg missed out on playing in the Craven Week due to an injury in 2016. It was at the North-West University where he made his name as a player while playing for the Eagles (then Pukke) in the Varsity Cup.
