In reaction to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s message on Sunday evening, the Toyota Cheetah team and management who returned from a tour to Ireland and Wales two weeks ago, were all tested for Covid-19 and the results were negative.
The Toyota Cheetahs faced the Guinness PRO14 sides Leinster (Dublin) and Ulster (Belfast) in Ireland and Northern Ireland and Dragons (Newport) in Wales during February and returned to South Africa via Heathrow in London on the 2nd of March.
The responsible thing to do was to test the travelling squad and the players and management as well as their families and colleagues are all relieved that they were tested negative for the Coronavirus.
After Guinness PRO14 announced the suspension of the Guinness PRO14 championship, as several sporting events across the globe, the team continued training. The Toyota Cheetahs received instructions from SA Rugby that all teams, from school level to Guinness PRO14 and SuperRugby have to refrain from training as a team until 14 April.
PRO14 Rugby will review the situation periodically and make any announcements when necessary.
