Botha is loving everything at the Toyota Cheetahs

The 18-year-old centre, Lesley Botha, feels that the fact that the Toyota Cheetahs are able to train helps in coping with the national lock-down.

The Toyota Cheetahs, as well as other teams across the country, have been able to train in smaller groups over the past couple of weeks as they gear up to the resumption of domestic rugby.

Botha, who finished school last year joined the Toyota Cheetahs recently following a brief stint at the French Top14 club, Montpellier.

Botha told OFM Sport that even though they aren’t able to play yet, he is enjoying everything about being at the Toyota Cheetahs thus far.

“It is really exciting for me personally because I’m looking forward to the competitions and hopefully they will be starting soon.

“It’s a new start and new beginnings for me and I am ready to take on the new challenge.

“I’m really enjoying my time with the Cheetahs so far. I love everything about them. I love the rugby that they want to play, I love all of the coaches and the players. They are all really good people.

“I enjoy hanging out and learning from them at training. It really makes everything better for me and a bit better during the lockdown.”

SA Rugby has their sights set on the last week of this month to get the 2020 Currie Cup up and running. If it not possible, the second weekend is the latest the tournament can kick-off in order for the world's oldest domestic competition to conclude by mid-December.
