TOYOTA FREE STATE CHEETAHS TEAM DOCTOR

The Toyota Free State Cheetahs (Pty) Ltd rugby franchise is looking for a suitably qualified Sports Physician registered with the HPCSA to fill the position of The Toyota Cheetahs Senior Team Doctor commencing 01 January 2019.  

Duties and Responsibilities: This is a half day position and responsibilities will include (amongst others):

•Daily clinical management of all senior contracted players, 

•Personal medical support at all training sessions including emergency treatment and appropriate referral.

•Match day medical support to The Toyota Cheetahs team both home and away, 

•Travelling with the team to venues and teams participating in the PRO14 campaign (Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy),

•Pre-season clinical screenings, 

•Monitoring of illness and injury profiles to identify trends and investigate and implement preventative measures,

•Ordering of medical consumables and medications,

•Administrative duties and 

•Participation in relevant team management meetings as a medical/sport scientific consultant to the coaching team. 

Skills and Competencies: 

•Strong communication skills and able to interact with people on all levels.

•Strong people management skills and needs to be able to function well in a team set-up.

•Must enjoy a sports environment and be willing to sometimes do more than the job description.

•Must be able to handle and function well under pressure.

•Must be able to work under pressure and limited time.

•Must be up to date with the latest evidence based research in order to provide the most effective treatment and rehabilitation. Qualifications:  •Minimum requirements will be a relevant Doctors 

Degree.

•A post graduate degree in Sports Medicine and experience at a Super Rugby / PRO14 / Currie Cup level will be an advantage. •Applicants must have adequate medicolegal cover.

 Remuneration:

•A competitive package is offered with the opportunity to also consult privately as part of a multidisciplinary sports medicine team at the Cheetahs Sports Medicine and Wellness Centre at Toyota Free State Park Stadium for the remainder of each day.
